Wellbeing

Promoting wellbeing is the responsibility of every staff member in our school.  Our Welfare Team is very active in co-ordinating many aspects of the whole school well being program, while faculties all include Wellbeing as an overarching principle in the work of each KLA.

Teams and meeting cycle

Central to our School Plan through this management cycle is our progress towards becoming a Marzano Institute - High Reliability School.  Our school planning and strategic focus is centred on:

  1. Establishing a safe and collaborative environment

  2. Promoting quality teaching in every classroom

  3. Providing a viable and sustainable curriculum

Apart from the established programs in Learning Support, WHS and Welfare, our progress towards these goals is driven through the work of a series of teams which form our Professional Learning Community or PLC.

Alternating meetings are held each week on Wednesday afternoons. The schedule is available on the school calendar.   

Student out of class procedures

  • Students out of class must be carrying a pass or appointment card.
  • Out of Class Pass (orange): toilets class teacher errands etc. - identifies the teacher issuing the pass.
  • Library / QuickSmart / NORTA NORTA program passes: permits access to the Library for study, tutorial support or reading recovery.
  • Admin:  summons students to the office, DP, Behaviour Support or LaST
  • NB: Students without passes are considered truant and must be followed up with a Head Teacher.

Work health and safety, first aid, accident reporting

  • Hazards should be attended to immediately if possible and reported to the office via a form on the one Stop Shop.
  • In case of accidents - send a student to the office to report / help. Staff must complete an accident report form prior to the end of the day and submit to the office.

Accessing technology for teaching and learning

  • Casual teachers on temporary contracts will be issued a school netbook for roll marking and program delivery.
  • As far as possible day to day Casual teachers will receive a netbook from the Admin Office to which they will log on before beginning the day.

Professional Learning and Teacher Accreditation

  • The school's limited professional learning budget provides for employment compliance, school priority and PDP training for all staff working on site.
  • Temporary and casual staff should work with the supervising Head Teacher to gain access to PD programs and funds.
  • Early Career Teachers will receive the appropriate relief and support as identified in the Great Teaching Inspired Learning guidelines.
